The K–12 education program is a comprehensive system designed to provide students with 12 years of basic education, including kindergarten, primary education, junior high, and senior high school. It emphasizes early childhood education, relevant curricula, and mother-tongue-based multilingual education to ensure students build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. The program offers strategic senior high school education, allowing students to specialize based on their interests and career aspirations. The core curriculum covers subjects like languages, mathematics, philosophy, natural sciences, and social sciences, while senior high school students can choose from academic, technical-vocational-livelihood, or sports and arts tracks. The system also includes Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) options for specialized skills. With a focus on holistic development, K–12 graduates are equipped with critical thinking, communication, and life skills, making them job-ready or prepared for higher education. This updated program ensures equitable access to quality education, provides a globally recognized structure, and fosters creativity, innovation, and practical application of knowledge in real-world scenarios. The K–12 system is a significant step forward in creating a well-rounded and competent workforce, preparing students for various career paths and lifelong success.

In Indonesia, teaching plans (Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran or RPP) are typically quite extensive, often spanning over 20 pages. These plans tend to focus more on the broad points and general structure of the lesson rather than specific details of what the teacher should say or do. The main emphasis is on the overall objectives, key points of the lesson, and expected outcomes. In contrast, teaching plans in the Philippines are usually ranging from 8 to 10 pages, and typically include more detailed instructions, such as exact activities, teacher prompts, and specific content to be covered during the lesson. Despite the differences in structure, both systems place a significant emphasis on motivational aspects in teaching. In both cases, motivating students to engage with the lesson is seen as essential to ensuring effective learning. Similarly, student behavior is another area of focus; both teaching plans include strategies or guidelines for managing and addressing student behavior in the classroom, ensuring that students remain focused and respectful during lessons.
